Farmington is a great place to live. I am committed to maintaining the exceptional quality of life we enjoy in Farmington. This includes low taxes, excellent schools, and quality town services. I am connected to our community through my past service as an elected official, as a member of a variety of boards and organizations and as a homeowner and parent. Listening to citizens' concerns is a key element to ensuring that the quality of life in Farmington continues to be exceptional. I pledge to continue to do just that.
My family has lived in Farmington for 4 generations. I am a graduate of Farmington High School - class of 1972. In 1976, I graduated from Hartwick College. My husband Alan, a retired businessman, is a member of the VFW in town. Alan and I have 3 children, Andrew, Liz and Becca who attended Farmington Schools and graduated from Farmington High School.
My involvement in the town as an elected official includes 2 years on the Town Council (currently Vice-Chair) and 16 years on the Board of Education (10 years as Chair). I am proud to be part of Farmington's leadership team for more than 20 years during which time our schools have received national recognition, our town's finances have been awarded an AAA debt rating,
our public safety (fire and police) has been supported and I have had the opportunity to help preserve land as open space and keep the FARM in Farmington.
As a volunteer on many boards and organizations, I am connected to many aspects of our community. I serve on the Food Pantry, Services for the Elderly, the Historical Society, & Friends of the Library. I have also served on the Barney Library Building Committee & the Land Trust.
As a member of the Town Council, I have worked to implement the goals of the Strategic Plan, which include Economic Development, Traffic, Land Use, Education and Budgets. If re-elected, I will continue my commitment to fiscal responsibility & sound budgeting; excellence in education; quality services and accountability. I recognize the necessity of striking a balance between providing services and our ability to pay.
I am honored to have served you as an elected official. I believe that with my experience, depth of community involvement and knowledge of town issues, I will continue to reflect your concerns. I ask for your vote so that together we can work for Farmington's future.
